August Theme: Why Adventure is so Important for us all

August Theme: Why Adventure is so Important for us all

In August We Adventure Both Out & In

For many of us, August is a time of adventure.  Our first thought when we head adventure is often travel and many people do have their final summer jaunt in August.  At Smudge, we are looking at adventure through a larger lens.  This month, we will look at Adventure as curiosity, identifying obstacles holding you back from your intentions and goals, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, willing to engage in uncomfortable conversations, empathy, self-disclosure and vulnerability, trying new things, meeting new people, resolving conflicts in new ways & discovering new rituals.  Adventures can be solo or with friends, local or include travel, it can be an hour or a week.  As a kid, I was a big fan of choose your own adventure books.  Sometimes we need to build our own adventures in life.  Are you ready to explore?

Welcome to the August Adventures.

When we started thinking about the theme for this month, Adventure was a choice we all agreed on with purpose and intention.  We spent the month of July focused on recharging, taking a step forward to get ready to spring forward in August.  As we mentioned above, Adventure is not always outward facing.  Adventure is defined as a noun; an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity or verb; engage in hazardous and exciting activity, especially the exploration of unknown territory.  Sometimes that experience or territory is ourselves.  We have to spend as much time adventuring into ourselves as we do adventuring out into the world.  So this month, as we move into back to school, end of summer and renewed regulation, we will bring you content centered on helping you adventure with Smudge.

Each month, we make it personal by selecting themes that we can speak to ourselves.  The best writing comes from experience and we spend each month experiencing these topics with you.  After a month of recharging, we are ready for some adventure time!! As Lara pointed out last month, our energetic needs constantly shift and change and we look forward to embracing that adventurous shift with all of you over the course of the month of August.

Xoxo
