Wellness Weekly : Seeking Clarity with Das: My Call With A Psychic

Welcome to Wellness Weekly coming to you every Wednesday.  This will be a weekly series, sort of like a Letter from the Editors that will rotate between Morgan, Lara and Luigi with the occasional guest.  We’ll hold space on the Dirt to check-in on our Sixth Sense: the term we use to refer to our spirit, our intuition, our inner power.  And because while we exist in the world alongside our other Five Senses, we’ll do a check-in of those, too.

Intuition has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. Growing up my mom would always say “go with your gut” whenever I was facing a difficult decision. At first I had no idea what she was talking about, but as I got older, I began to recognize that “feeling” that was leading me down a specific path. My intuition has never led me astray. Recently, I decided to follow my gut and schedule a call with a psychic. The psychic came highly recommended from one of my best friends. She has been calling this specific psychic, Laurie Wilcox for the past few years and has always gained great insight.

This wasn’t my first interaction with a psychic; I visited one in DC quite a few years back and she too had some great insight. For this call though, I prepared a few questions ahead of time just to be sure I could cover the areas where I wanted some clarity. I had questions written down surrounding continued education, finances & career and of course, love. I’m a hopeless romantic, so any insight into my love life is good insight!

We started off the call with Laurie providing some background details: she is a medium and psychic of Native American heritage and has had psychic abilities since childhood. After providing some background and going over what I wanted (a psychic reading), Laurie took a few minutes to tap into my spirit guides. When she was ready, she asked if I wanted to ask my questions first or if I wanted to hear the messages she was receiving. I went straight for the messages and the first one that came through she said was surrounding higher education. I was ready to drop the phone! She told me that my guides said I was on the right path and that I knew what I needed to do. She followed that up by asking me what type of school environment I grew up in. Specifically, she said “ did you go to a Catholic or militant school of some sort?” She was totally right, I went to Catholic school for 8 years. Laurie told me that was a difficult experience for me because I was forced to learn in such a rigid environment. My experience with Catholic school had essentially created this fear of school within me. She was right again! My delay in applying for school this time around was partially due to my fear. I had just had a conversation with friends where I shared that I never liked school and just did it because it was expected.

Laurie continued to wow me. I expressed my apprehensive desire to find a full-time job again and give up freelancing for more “stability.” She talked again about the rigid environment that was school and how that parlayed into my work life. A 9-5 is going to be too rigid for me and I don’t really thrive in those environments. She said she saw continued success in my freelance journey. The conversation continued on to the topic of  love. I asked what she saw and she told me that my heart is wide open for love. I was so excited, however, she also uncovered that I still had healing to do and had to acknowledge the damage caused in my last serious relationship. She told me that I basically had begun to gloss over the pain that relationship caused me and she was 100% accurate. I was moving on in a way that allowed me to only acknowledge the good memories and omit the negativity. It was a bit difficult to hear at first, but Laurie told me she was a straight shooter and  I wanted her to keep it all the way real with me.

The call helped me amplify my own intuition, specifically regarding school and my career and also opened my eyes to areas where I still have some work to do. I’m thankful I trusted my gut and scheduled the call with Laurie. It was the additional support and insight I need to continue to trust my intuition. Inspired By the 5 other Senses: Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch

Sight | Supermarket Sweeps: I never got into the OG Supermarket Sweeps, but I am loving the reboot with Leslie Jones. It’s just pure fun and joy. She is hysterical, I love to laugh + laughter is great for the soul.

Sound | Listening To: Chloe - Have Mercy

It’s pre-Scorpio season (my season) so I’ve been feeling myself a bit more as I normally do right before my birthday. I’ve had Chloe’s Have Mercy on repeat. It’s such a confident and fun song, plus she is an amazing talented singer, writer, producer and actress. She is a Beyoncé protégé and it’s exciting to see young talent mentored by the Queen. Her MTV VMA performance was my favorite this year!

Smell| Palo Santo: I love to burn Palo Santo to remove any negativity and restore a sense of calm to my home. I also love the way it smells. I was actually gifted/introduced to Palo Santo by my therapist. She told me the benefits of burning it and I’ve been a fan ever since.

Taste | Chocolate: I’ve been indulging a lot lately; I deserve! I used to have a major sweet tooth, but as I’ve gotten older the cravings have kind of gone away; however when they show up, they show out. My go to is a RItten chocolate bar with hazelnuts!

Touch| Clear Quartz: This stone has a calming effect on me. It’s come in quite handy this month as I’ve needed some clarity. It is also known for fostering intuition as well. Right on theme for this month!
